Följande bild visar en av definitionerna för AHL på engelska: Acylated Homoserine lakton. Most Gram-negative bacteria use N -acylated homoserine lactones (AHLs) as signal molecules. The general structure of these compounds consist of a lactone ring with an acyl side chain. The length of the acyl chain is usually between 4–18 carbons and the functionality at the β-carbon position can vary. Many Gram-negative bacteria use acylated homoserine lactones (HSLs) as autoinducers.

Acylated homoserine lactones

AHLs produced by different species of Gram-negative bacteria vary in the length and composition of the acyl side chain, which often contains 4 to 18 carbon atoms. N-Acyl homoserine lactones (Abbreviated as AHLs or N-AHLs) are a class of signaling molecules involved in bacterial quorum sensing.Quorum sensing is a method of communication between bacteria that enables the coordination of group-based behavior based on population density. In the process of evaluating the role of acylated homoserine lactones (AHLs) in food-spoiling Gram-negative bacteria, we have combined a range of bacterial AHL monitor systems to determine the AHL-profile and the kinetics of AHL-production. A particular subset of these molecules, the acylated homoserine lactones (acyl HSLs), have been shown to be involved in biofilm formation and dispersal with Pseudomonas aeruginosa (7). This finding suggests that interference with acyl HSL-based signaling may provide a novel mechanism for biofilm control.

Primarily produced by Gram-negative bacteria, acylated homoserine lactones (AHLs) are a class of small neutral lipid molecules composed of a homoserine lactone ring with an acyl chain. AHLs produced by different species of Gram-negative bacteria vary in the length and composition of the acyl side chain, which often contains 4 to 18 carbon atoms.

In this study, we applied ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography coupled … Intraspecies communication in gram-negative bacteria is mediated through N-acyl homoserine lactones (AHLs). The homoserine lactone ring is N-acylated at the C-1 position with a fatty acyl group ranging from 4 to 18 carbons; the acyl group can be a straight chain or is modified at the acyl C-3 position by a double bond, an oxo group, or by a hydroxyl group. Quorum sensing (QS) via acylated homoserine lactones (AHLs) was discovered in the ocean, yet AHLs are expected to be very short-lived at seawater pH due to rapid abiotic degradation. 2017-01-15 While most bacteria use a class of small signaling molecules called acylated homoserine lactones, or AHLs, to "talk," E.
